Style Inspiration : Working Girl

As the season changes so does our wardrobe.  Coming up with new & season-appropriate work outfits can be daunting,  so I have selected a few inspirational looks from recent collections to give you ideas on how to be more flexible with key pieces.  Mix and match different styles - incorporate one casual piece such as a simple tee accessorized with a pearl necklace worn with trousers.

Skirts & Dresses - add a skinny belt to give it a more structured look.

Real People : Real Style

Make a statement!

Forget looking for that perfect pair of platform pumps, or the LBD that will make heads turn. Right now, you need only one item to make you the cream of the fashion crop: a piece of statement jewellery. For the last few years, this look has been popping up all over the place with labels like Vera Wang and celebrities like Olivia Palermo leading the way.

When it comes to winters, the colors in our wardrobes go subdued and snug in the grays, chocolates, blacks and navy shades, but what pops out, are the dazzling, exquisite & ornate jewels that are a woman’s best-friend. With plenty of glamorous options out there, the time has come for a fashionista like you to make the look your own.

A shopaholic's winter wadrobe..

With winter coming up it's only naturally to splurge here and there (or in my case everywhere) to ensure you're well prepared for the cooler season. My winter shopping is no where near the level I'd like it to be, after all, there are 92 days of winter and surely I can't be expected to wear the same thing more then a couple of times.  Having a few different key pieces in your closet allows for mix'n'matching, throw in a bit of khaki with this season's neutral colours and you'll be guaranteed a hit every time.

Here are a few of the most recent additions to my winter wardrobe:

I'm embracing the Military trend with these babies. Sass & Bide "The Revolution" Jeans (Khaki), they will definitely be a repeat offender this autumn/winter.

Cream Knit Jumper from Sportsgirl. Couldn't find a picture of the jumper but this one from Missselfridge.com is very similiar in style. My one is cut on an angle so it falls off one shoulder and it is a much chunkier knit. Perfect combination of trend and comfort.
My staple Uni flats with cream lace up rear and leather frill from Tony Bianco. I purchased the black pair with cream frill and lace. Perfect for those everyday long walks, comfy yet trendy. Definitely an item that brings in a lot of compliments.

Couldn't walk past this Mimco "Riley Doc" Bag without giving into temptation. It is tailored & clean, reminiscent of old school days of white slacks & little blazers. It's already been on numerous trips with me; a practical and faithful companion.

Holey Knit Jumper like this one but in a mustard/brown colour. The gabs between the knits are much further apart, I admit not very practical but it's one of those intricate pieces you can't walk past and not notice. Not to mention the colour/knit combination is to-die-for

Another Mimco purchase, this time a statement necklace. Can't get enough of these beauties and no one does statement jewellery better then Mimco. This particular piece is a large aluminium silver plated rounded curb chain with chunky glass barrel beads with silver plated clear crystal studded interlocking rhondelles as the front and centre piece. It looks amazing on, great accessory to dress up a LBD or accentuate a strapless neckline.

Love in a bottle...

Perfume is just one of the many faces of fashion, and it has its phases and fads, too. There are some types of perfume which are really being eclipsed, and the trends might surprise you. So, the current trends? Sandalwood, Banana, and Jasmine are real leaders. Sounds like India & Pakistan are the trend setters here, and they are. Art follows success. Add a good dollop of coconut and that is THE sexiest way to smell circa 2011.

Current trends aside, here are some of my all time perfume favs:

Not only will this baby bring all the boys to the yard, it’ll keep ‘em there with it’s mesmerizing beauty and intoxicating fragrance. It quite literally is an explosion of flowers with notes of Sambac jasmine, orchid, freesia, patchouli and rose  just to name a few. Ol’ Viktor & Rolf got a bit cheeky on this one, designing the bottle like a delicately frosted pink grenade, hence the name.

A light and fresh floral with notes of freesia, mandarin orange, honey and tea rose. My nose also detects a bit of an edge to go with the fragrance’s girly side, a vibe that’s both feminine and urban and reflected in the bottle’s design.

Marc Jacobs Lola is a warm, floral scent with a signature note of fuschia peony. Fruity top notes of pink peppercorn, pear d’anjou and red grapefruit deepen to the fuschia heart, which also contains rose and geranium. Base notes of vanilla, tonka bean and creamy musk finish the scent. The bottle is violet with a curvaceous silhouette and is topped with a unique cap fashioned into a rosette.

The fragrance is a delicate and feminine twist on the original with notes of Bulgarian rose, peony petals, plum and ambrette seed that call out for lavish hotel rooms and fine restaurants. The rose the one woman demands the finer things in life and knows how to get them. Resist the urge to soak in it though; a mere touch to your pulse points with its musky rosiness is enough to exude a little of that ultra-desirable come-hither.

New addition to my perfume family - Naughty Alice by Vivienne Westwood. Naughty, chic femininity at play, in a magical universe. Cheeky & rebellious, believing that rules are made to be broken. I must admit, when I first saw the marketing photos for it, it was the bottle design and the pretty blue heart charm gold bracelet caressing the neck of the bottle that caught my eyes. Naughty Alice is a fragrance that epitomises the sensual modern women with a bit of playfulness.
